Bulletin No. 4 Through December 31, 1998, 442 Alaskans have been confirmed to have AIDS. Of these, 212 (50%) are known to have died. Of the 442 AIDS cases, 383 (86%) are male and 59 (14%) are female. Data below employ the 1993 Expanded Case Definition for AIDS. All cases are shown as diagnosed in the year the person first met the revised case definition. Residence at time of diagnosis is shown by census area.
