  1. Cases are assigned by date of onset, diagnosis, or report — whichever is earliest; therefore, case counts may be updated as new data become available.
  2. By national convention, cases are assigned by patient residence.
  3. Areas with low or no case counts may reflect absence of testing rather than absence of disease.
  4. Rapid influenza tests may give false positive or false negative results. PCR testing is recommended for confirmation. Information on influenza testing available here:

ASVL Report The Alaska State Virology Laboratory (ASVL) Weekly Report summarizes all specimens evaluated by the Lab in the previous week. PLEASE NOTE: ASVL data are displayed by date of report (not dates of collection or onset).

Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) Surveillance

Influenza-like illness (ILI) surveillance reporting has ended for the 2014-15 influenza season and will resume in October 2015. Healthcare providers who would like to participate in ILI surveillance for the 2015-16 influenza season should contact the Alaska influenza surveillance coordinator at 269-8000.
