Recommendations:
Tobacco cessation counseling is recommended for all persons who use tobacco products, particularly for pregnant women and people with children in the home. Optimal frequency not determined, but repeated messages over time are associated with greatest success.

- Nicotine replacement therapy

Follow-up:
- schedule visits during quit time
Prevent relapse
- offer reinforcement
- congratulate, encourage
- inquire about problems
- discuss weight gain, lack of support for cessation
